That is so blatantly obvious and he keeps sending this stuff to SJRA/TCEQ and they are doing nothing about this. Something amiss here, how are they still allowed to do this ? I asked and they told me they dont have a " tolerance" level that allows some spillage, but I was told they do not at all in sand mining.

That can’t be good for the fish and animals down stream. It irritates me to no end how these companies abuse our environment.

From Jessica Beemer from the office of Council Member Dave Martin.

Morning Mr. Hackett,

Yes, our office is aware of the issue and Houston Water has conducted preliminary investigations. At this time the change in color it is believed to be related to high turbidity that is kicking up sediment in the West Fork of the river.

Best regards,

Jessica D. Beemer, MPA
Chief of Staff
Office of Council Member Dave Martin

My response I am planning to email her back:

The only white thing that could possibly be white on the surface of the river would be a Styrofoam cup or maybe an egret.
There is no way any sediment from the river is even close to being white.
Its awful strange that it is white only in Spring Creek. Where it meets the brownish color West Fork.

Then, see this:
City of Houston Public Works sent this statement to FOX 26:

“Houston Water is concerned about the safety and quality of the water in the San Jacinto West Fork, and relies on the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to regulate sand mines statewide.

Houston Water believes the white discoloration is caused by heavy sediment in the river from sand mines upstream. FEMA, the State of Texas and Houston Water are all working together to remove sediment from the San Jacinto River at the upstream end of Lake Houston. Houston Water and its partners continuously monitor the water quality in and around Lake Houston. At this time, it is not impacting water quality."

Lots of luck on getting anywhere with any of those politicians. I have contacted them on numerous occasions and have never gotten a straight answer. They have no idea of what anyone is talking about nor do they care.
But, I appreciate your efforts.

A lot of talking out of both sides of the mouth. I thought they secured the mouth bar dredge funds and were taking advantage of equipment already being in the river. Its gone now so they said it was 18mil to deploy, they only asked for 10mil for the mouth bar, #'s dont add up. And TCEQ had numerous pics of unsettled water discharging into the river from breached dams and its that milky white color. Even I can figure this one out folks!
