Hello, I am looking at taking my wife fishing next weekend. We have never been on Lake Houston before. We like catching large mouth with lures, working structure, banks etc. What color soft plastics are good this time of year, type of swim bait, color. What part of lake do you guys suggest. Cold weather fish, I am usually looking in deep water. Any help would be appreciated

if bad weather fish upper end of lake in the river forks or bayou. pitching to downed timber
Points and creek inlets. slow rolled spinner baits white with brass or copper blades

Thank you very much, I think I might go with some black in color. That spoon idea sounds fun, I haven't thrown spoons in a long time. Do you have a good boat ramp to recommend?

BJ’s is the best place to launch from.

the boat ramp at BJS is kind of shallow if you have a big boat . Ponderosa marina is a
deeper ramp and safer for bigger boats. for fishing the bayou and east fork. $7 launch fee

duesen park has a big good ramp for fishing the south end . but it is not good if you
have a north wind this time of the year it blows right into the ramp and the south
end can get very rough and very quick. Free launch.

the ramp at lake houston marina east side of 1960 bridge is a good ramp but $10.00 launch fee

Thank you guys for the info. I am looking forward to getting out there. I have a yellow and white Tahoe q4 by bass tracker. It's not to big and I have alot of scratches on bottom already, I not scared of getting where the fish are. Yes I have been stuck with my wife aboard, she reminds me about every trip :) I will let you know what I catch and where. "A bad day of fishing, beats a great day at work"

Is BJ’s okay for a 21 foot bass boat? Never launched there before but thinking of it if it’s safe. Boat is only a year old so don’t want to do any damage if I can avoid it. Thanks

Thanks, I had definitely rather pay the ten bucks if it’s safer. I plan to fish the east fork so thought it might be easier to put in there. I have run from Ponderosa to the east fork but not in a year so my concern was that it’s changed with the hurricane. I’m not very familiar with the lake. Appreciate the info.

Then stay out of Lake Houston. Go to Fayette or somewhere.

C130..just run it slow down Luce's from Ponderosa ramp. I haven't been since the hurricane (back surgery) but used to swing way south at the mouth of Luce's. You can see the sand bar on Goggle satellite. Maybe sit there a while and watch what others are doing.

Just watch me... I seem to find all the sandbars (more than once, too).
