Hey I'm new to the lake. Any one know of any good spots for kayak fishing? What type of bait is good? Wow 60 views and no one wants to share info. Is it that top secret or is everyone just that uptight.

Best i can recommend is to put in at Ponderosa marina which is in the middle of luces bayou.
You get there by taking 1960 to 2100 north then left onto wolf/linchburg crosby road. Launch the s right ght before the bridge

That puts you in the middle of plenty of fishing spots. Just explore.

Be careful for inconsiderate boaters that might wake you if they dont see you or dont care :(

as far as fishing goes the crappie have been biting good . But the fish have been

holding deep 12 to 15 feet down . You need to get your bait down about 13 feet

to get bit. Probably why most people didn't answer your post is all the boat traffic

and most of them are rude and wont slow down for other boaters. I have seen quite

a few kayaks put in at ponderosa or Bjs marina. but most put in farther up the bayou

off the north east side of the 2100 bridge that is north of wolf road. lot calmer water and

not so much boat traffic.

Hey sticko,
They biting on shiners? Or jigs.
I'm taking my 3year old daughter fishing on the boat for the first time and I'd really like her to catch something.
If all else fails I could hook her up with some crawlers for perch. TIA

for her age minnows will be the best for crappie

but all around for her to catch something the crawlers for bream

deep would be the best way to go. she might get bream or catfish that way.

the crappie have been deep i don't think this front will change that much.

they have been catching crappie on jigs using them on a spider rig and

she could catch them that way easy. lime/truse black/truse black/red/truse are

the colors doing the most good. lots of small stuff in the bayou.

Dobby, I might talk to you about Sheldon. I've fished the berm by the spillway before, but I'm way too scared to take my kayak down there with all those green friends swimming around.

I don't think i have ever heard of a kayak being turned over by one

i have seen people wade fishing around them . Not sure i would want to do that though.

Thanks sticko.

But still, there's something disconcerting about paddling alongside something that's just as long as my boat, and outweighs us by about 800 pounds...
