I bought a Humminbird 688 HD DI about 3 weeks ago from a marine supply place thaty had it $50 less than anyone else. Long story short, I got it so I could mark waypoints at the bow of the boat ( it has built in GPS). It will store 2750 waypoints inside the unit. However, there was one little glitch. When I hit the "mark" button, the entire unit locks up to the point I can't even shut it down. So the one reason why I bought the unit is the thing that doesn't work. I had registered the unit the day it arrived.

Called Humminbird, explained the situation, and suggested that they just send me a new control head... never expecting them to do it. I was resigned to "sending it in" for them to futz with. To my surprise, they are shipping me a new control head (the main unit) and all I have to do is send the old unit back to them. So, I just had a wonderful experience with the Humminbird customer service department. I recommend Humminbird because of this service. When I get a unit that works, I'll review it for you all. They are discontinuing the 500 and the 700 series and folding them into a 600 series.

That is the main reason i have always used Humming bird.

But in thirty five years of service i have only sent one back and

that was after many years of service and they fixed and returned in

in only a matter of days , not weeks like other brands.

Yes I have had great service from them too, I had to send mine into them, honestly because I screwed up on the updating process and locked it up. I sent it to them overnight on a Monday and they had backed to me by Friday!
