It's easier to keep your Humminbird Updated with FishSmart App for Android & iPhone Owners. Watch for video coming on how to update your Humminbird Bluetooth Compatible Units with the FishSmart App. Humminbird makes using and now updating your product simple. Simply. Clearly. Better.

on the topic of Humminbirds, I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand the difference between the Helix vs. the Solix. I'm currently using a Lowrance Elite HDI 7 bought back in 2012. It's a good chartplotter and digital sonar but the DSI is a bit dated compared to the clarity in the new models. On top of that I want to have side scan and not just down scan. I'm new to fishing Lake Houston (again). My only experience was when I was a kid we would drop minnows in brush piles up in Luce's during the spawn so I'm admittedly a complete newbie. I'm not particularly interested in Largemouths, I'm wanting to target whites and crappie and so far I think I'm on the right track. I've even subscribed to SK's crappie catchn adventures on youtube :D . I guess I used this as a bit of an intro as well as wanting to know if anyone had any info that could help me try to make a decision. I know the Helix is more "affordable", but I don't mind the extra expense of the Solix if the added features are worth it. Thanks

I do not own one but have vied a lot of pictures from them had read a lot
about them from people that own them on a hummingbird side imaging
site on facebook. They both put out great pictures. The helix is basicly
the old style of getting around on the system as far as settings and
functions. The solix is touch screen you can move around on it very
quickly . The solix does use a lot of battery power most people are
having to wire direct from unit to battery and use bigger wire.
also going to a size 31 battery if running other things off of it.
I bought my son a solix 12 mega for christmas and he loves it
just has not had time to use it a lot yet. here are some comparisons
of each one on the water helix vs solix
