Gents,

Got my new boat on order and now getting electronics planned. Luckily I already have a Lowrance HDS7 Gen3 with Point-1 Antenna that I bought a couple years ago for offroading (hence Raptor name) but never got installed. Planning on putting it on the console. Never having had a fishfinder / sonar / whatever you wanna call them (didn't see the need bass fishing in 1 to 5' of water) Ill appeal to the experts on here on for recommendations on what other components (transducers, etc) are needed to complete the setup.

Thanks in advance,
Raptor

I know very little about lowrance also. But the unit should have came with
a transducer and a set up manual. If not you can get manual from lowrance.
and there is plenty of instructions on mounting you can find on youtube.

Sticko,

Because I bought the unit to be solely used as an offroad GPS it only came with the unit and aux antennae. Ive still got to buy the transducer and whatever else is required to get it going.

The other interesting item about the install is I bought a jet drive so the typical rear mount may not work. Going to let the dealership advise on that one.

I have a HDS7 Gen 3 on my boat with the side scan and reg transducer. Now Low sells one transducer (total scan) that does it all in one go figure. There are some major software updates (v5.0 just came out) for it as well so check the website for that. Max size mirco SD card is 64gig you will need that to update it.

I have messed with some settings but it works pretty good out of the box.

Fbronco86,

Perfect. Found exactly what I needed now that I have the "marketing name." Already got a 64g card so Im good to go once I get the transducer. Thanks for the help!

Raptor,

I will see if I can post a pic of my setup on the transom but on my boat its pretty tight. I got a few inches of clearance when my motor is at full turn. My dad and I followed the instructions as best we could with the space we had. My boat is 60" wide so it got tight quick.
