If you don't mind it being the non-CHIRP model, Cabela's has the Garmin EchoMAP 73sv in their Bargain Cave for $440. Comes pre-loaded with their version of a Navionics/LakeMaster/LakeInsight type mapping suite.

Kingfisher, you and I were just talking about these after the tournament Saturday. I'm torn between the Garmin and the Humminbird, but I really want CHIRP, so this deal doesn't strike my fancy. Still, I wanted to post it if any of you all have been looking.

The part that's got me considering the Garmin right now SK is that the maps are built in to the unit, so I can put in a blank SD card and save screen shots to it. The Helix also only has one SD card slot, so if I have a LakeMaster card in, how do I save screen shots, or where do they go?

The 7"ers are about as big as I can go in the kayak, it's gonna be a squeeze to get in around those, a 9" and I wouldn't be able to sit in the kayak properly.

Yes i am going with the helix 10 i have made up my mind and the large screen helps to see all that i miss . the oldest and most effective way is the lower unit hitting the stumps...........

Doesn't the 798 have a 5" screen? Trying to go as big as I can on screen size to see the SI.

Yes but don't let that fool ya....it draws excellent scans....and I still use it on my tm now.....

Image

That scan shows 150ft of coverage, you could easily shrink it down to 100ft & the objects would be a lot bigger...

That's not too shabby there, chief! Do you think there's much of a resolution difference between the core units and the Helix models with chirp?

Very much so especially the Solix series......I haven't totally convinced myself that the clarity will help with putting feesh in tha boat.....when I do the upgrade it will only be a want not a need.....
