I had to go get my jig kit out of storage and try to remember how to tie up a couple.

Yep. That's how I make mine. Except I like the little #4 hooks and add a few more hackles chevrons to the tail .

And most importantly, I use my left hand to tie to put the secret magic into them!

Informative video sk.

This will help put the size of my jigs into perspective.

I was skeptical at first when I first tried them that small but I think they hold it longer before spitting it out since they don't feel the hook like they do with a number 2. I have the reaction time if a 90 year old drunk, so i need every extra moment I can get after the thump.

There's a lot of truth in that. When that little hook stings them in the roof of the mouth it can be a little difficult to get it out when you want it back.

I got a bag of 250 from Bobby goforth. He had them special made. I think I recall him telling me they were #4. But they may be #6. They are small. The bag isn't labeled and I'm not an expert on hook sizes. And I'm over 50 now so my memory is fading fast.

It looks like a #6....

During the summer months I usually down size to 1/32 #6 jigs.... I use sickle hooks...

I have never fished with sickle hooks. What do you like about them that makes you prefer them?

They have improved my hookup ratio by a lot...

They are out of business now so the stock I have is it, I'll have to select a j hook since I don't like the eagle claw lil nasty hooks....

I lied. Unintentionally of course. When I got home this morning, I gave the bag a look over again and sure enough, it has the hook size listed. They are #8. I have a less than 30 at 1/32 left and 100 at 1/16. And I guess I had 2 bags of 100 given to me to equal 200, not 250 like I lied about earlier. Can't trust a fisherman!
