I have been told, and have been reading, that the color crappie are biting on now is chartreuse with silver sparkles in it on a red head. So, I set out to try to make one to imitate that color combo.

My first attempt was not too good. I wrapped silver sparkle chenille around a trues body to get the sparkle.

That sucked, so I decided to try wrapping a flat holographic Flashabou spiral around a trues body. That might be a little better, but it still wasn't close enough.

Then i remembered buying some material called Flat Diamond Braid that is colored and sparkly. I checked to see if I had any trues, but didn't. However, I had some yellow. The material is an open weave that you can see through a little. So I figured that if I made a regular green under-wrap, and then over wrapped with the yellow flat braid, I might end up with something like chartreuse. I think this one matches the color of the plastic tail pretty well. I'll test it tomorrow to see if it works, and post the results.

field tester report Top jig caught biggest fish
middle jig got the most hits.

did not have the bottom one

big fish destroyed the hooks on both jigs. 2- 1 /2 pound white bass destroyed

the hook on the middle one.

14-1/2 inch crappie destroyed the hook on the top jig.

Looking fancy Dutch!!

When it gets cool enough to spend time in my garage again I'm going to have to set up a tying table. I'm supremely jealous of everything you and SK put out.
