I've recently REdiscovered the place I caught my very first fish on a hook.
Well, it was a hook, but no Aberdeen.
My late uncle, during a family reunion, took some skin from a barbecued sausage link and slid it over an uncoiled safety pin.
I dropped it in, and in the well known exclamation often used by one of our local anglers, "BAM!". Fish on!
I caught my first bluegill, and almost (redacted
) years later plus 30 minutes of aerial map scanning, I FOUND IT!
Now, all I know is that I pulled out a bluegill years ago, but recently upon relocating the spot, I was pleased to learn that it's that same strain from Conroe; rather, the same species, not necessarily displaced or related to any Conroe fish.
I lifted about 15-20 big Ol' bluegill and bluegill hybrids. Some were green sunfish×bluegill. Others were red ear crosses and then, just straight up bluegill.
Must remain very secret. Not everyone will put them all back and I don't want to always have to drive to Conroe to go wrestle those tough little boogers. They're a feisty little lot, aren't they!?
