Those are four o'clocks. My mom had some by the house. The big green tomato worms liked to eat them, so I would get a lawn chair, sit about 10 feet away and shoot them with my BB gun when they were visible.

A neighbor lady gave me a four o'clock bulb in a coffee can when i bought this house
it stayed in that coffee can for about 3 years . i never watered it and kept just kicking
the can around . Then one day i just decided to plant the thing to see what they looked like
now i have two rows of them about like this row.

my silly sister and her husband went out there with their watches to see if they opened
right at 4 pm . if it is cloudy they may not open at all.

Dutch, those tomato hornworms make great bait too!!

Also a fun science project for me when I was a kid was to keep them in an aquarium and feed them leaves and let them bury themselves and turn into moths...I was a geeky kid.
