Lake Houston Fishing!

I do not know how I am so alone in the United States. Carp fishing is fun, your average catch is 10 + lbs and they fight harder than any other fish I know of. Can we add a carp forum and see how it grows?

I know when I lived in Thailand I fell in love with this fish and you will to.

agree ! we have big carps in Germany and in northeast Germany they eat them as a specialty for Christmas !

I love carp fishing... just haven't tried it in Lake Houston. I know there are lots of carp in the lake because I have seen them at the surface. Maybe we can get a group together, bait an area, and have some fun. Interested? By the way, there are several national (and probably local) carp fishing organizations. Just Google "carp fishing". One of the premiere carp fishing places in the U.S. is Town Lake in Austin, TX, where fish can go over 40 pounds. They have an annual international carp fishing tournament there once a year. I'd be interested in getting a carp fishing club going here. Basically, anywhere there is fresh water, there are carp in this country, but they are considered to be a trash fish here, and people bow hunt them, legally.

German, there used to be a group of guys on another board that caught some good ones pretty regularly out of Lake Woodlands. I'll see if I can dig up a few posts and link them (if it's not against the rules, Dutch and sticko, you'll need to clarify that for me please)

Recipe for carp bait?
Box of Wheeties, add water, knead into balls, put on treble hook, hang on....
I fished for carp in my youth. River was polluted so carp and bullheads were the species of choice.
But, if it wasn't, we would have fished for bass or crappie or white bass...
But, it was fun.
