A swing and a miss . I think this is the first strike out i have had in the last
40 some years . Usually manage a fish or two. But today zilch nada nothing
not even a bump.
The lake is muddier than i have ever seen it . Both east fork and Bayou are
super muddy with the bayou being the worst if there is a worst.
went down swinging till my cranking battery crapped out about 2:30 pm.
had to load the boat on the trailer with the troll motor try that with a remote
trolling motor. and a cross wind.

Don't feel so all alone Sticko. I got a late start today and was not on the water until 9am. Wanted to fish the south end of the lake but the wind came up and whitecaps cut that short. Hit a few other spots on the way back north with no luck. Boat on trailer around noon. Yes, water is muddy but has not made it to the south end yet. Had some ice in the boat this morning.

Sk muddy does not phase me . I have caught tons of crappie in muddy. Current bothers me
lot more than mud . But there was no current flowing . I fished as hard as i could go all day long
both mentally and physically tired out just trying to figure the fish out. There were hordes of fish
moving in the bayou last Monday. I know the fish are there . But my screen was virtually clean
in the bayou and the east fork . so i do know when the creeks are not showing fish they are
hunkered down in the brush . the thing i do not know is how deep were they. I saw some fish
at 7.5 feet deep what kind not sure tried all sizes and colors from top of brush to bottom
in 20 feet of water with never a bump. I know the fish will turn on sometime before the front hits
when I do not know . but they had not turned on when i had to leave at around 3:pm because my
cranking battery went dead at 2:30 so had to troll into the ramp to load. Wasn't for lack of trying just
was not one of my better days. To me i know i am going to get a hit on every drop of the jig and i fish
it as if i am . I fish the last drop of the day just as hard and cautious as the first drop of the day. Trying to
feel every leaf twig and every fish that breaths on the lure .

Yeah I had another fisherman that went out Sundy tell my how muddy the waters was & he didn't get a bite either....
Wish I could have been out there to take on that challenge.... not sayn I would have gotten bit but just enjoy the challenge those crappie give us a lot of the time....
That's why I love to chase them sometimes it seems like they go under the dirt.....
What all colors did you use?

Gonna be a good tourney anybody can win with any fish, at least the weather is going to be nice 50 s when we start and mid 70s when we finish and no rain. Muddy water is always a challenge, should be better by Saturday be looking forward. see you then

It might be easier to name the colors i did not try. started with all the muddy colors that
have produced in the past for me. white/truse black/pink white/pink red/truse Popsicle
orange/truse joe dirt brown orange pink/truse pink/black/truse red/pink dark green.
straight chart. couple road runner heads

I talked to a couple of people that fish the lake regularly they only had one crappie
they both caught their fish on the black/truse.

lot of these colors i tried in 1/16 1/8 and 1/32. water temp 49 the fish could have

moved shallow on me i did not try the shallow flats but did fish a few piles in

7 feet along the channel drop. the few shad and fish i did mark where in the 7.5 foot range.
fish may have turned on latter in the day just about quitting time was seeing a little
shad action starting to happen on top.

Wow!!!

That's a rough day for sure!! Cold water is one thing, muddy water is another, but cold and muddy has always been hard on me.

I would think they were in shallow cover...when the lakes up north turn over and the water gets cloudy and dark, we used to catch them in 2-3 feet of water because the dirty water warmed up faster at the surface.

That sounds like a murderer's row of winning colors on the lake. Incredible that you couldn't even get one taker...

Those fish won't hold you down long sticko!! I'm ready to see that crappie revenge post!
