Went out Sunday and the bass were active. I went out late afternoon and caught 6 just before the rain hit. Nothing larger than about 2.5 pounds but it was fun. I did see something unusual though. Straight across from the mouth of Luce, in the lake over next to that fishing pier in Kingwood, I saw 3 swarms of catfish nibbling at the top like there was no oxygen in the water. Had to be 15 to 20 fish in each one. Never seen that before. I also saw 4 barges that looked like they would be used for dredging. Maybe it has started.

Where did you see the barges? in the W Fork?
I read .5 E of WLH bridge and 2.5 W of it is what is to be done. I just hope somehow the KW ramp gets open by taking out that large island.

I saw the barges in the lake south of the 1960 bridge. I did not see a feeder around where the fish were. There was one maybe 50 yards from there.

I would think dredge equipment would be put in at 59 and San Jac as it would be closer to where they are to be working but who knows, maybe they cant get under the RR bridge, but again not sure.

Cats are going after the May flies now. Some spots are more concentrated than others.
Usually they die and float up to the bulkhead and the cats gobble them up atop the surface.

I saw several different groups of catfish in the main lake schooling/gulping air. No they weren't feeding on anything. Mayflies...negative....the rapid warm up of the lake quickly stratified the water body. We had several days of near complete calm winds with sunny skys with high pressure and 94 to 96 degree heat.. That equates to LOTS more direct sunlight entering the water and thus producing an upper layer of oxygen rich water....below that is "dead" water,,,no oxygen..

Nicely done. I concur.
The May flies are at dusk.
Did catch three tonight; off the bulkhead. One each on; plastic worm, buzz bait and square bill 1.5...
Oh, and one mallard that flew under my cast. Released unharmed of course. Very nice duck, and patient.

I’ve seen too many episodes of Lone Star Law to keep an animal caught illegally and out of season....
I can’t believe how those people lie on those shows...
