Hey y'all. Been a lurker for some time now and finally decided to become a more active participant.

I'm an avid fisherman, but I've only been on Lake Houston a handful of times over the past few years despite living in Kingwood for some time now. I've only ever ventured into Luce's Bayou for largemouth (the lily pads are too tempting), but wanted to get out into the rest of the lake more, especially now that the fish are starting to move and chase the shad.

I've been considering taking a trip up the East Fork or rocking the docks south of the 1960 bridge on the east side of the lake. Are the East/West forks of the San Jacinto navigable by bass boat? Any random shallow spots (like the mouth of Luce's) or submerged hazards that I need to avoid?

Also, potentially looking for a fishing partner (my boat or yours). I work a 4-on-4-off schedule currently, and none of my normal fishing buddies are off during the week, so I've been going solo quite a bit lately.

Thanks in advance

-Brandon

Welcome,

East Fork has some shallow spots going in so be careful and when lake is down there are numerous random shallow spots all over the lake. West Fork is good to go as long as you stay in channel which is now clearly marked all the way from 1960 to river. IMO the Western Side Docks are better than Eastern side docks. GL

Hey there!
I work at Deerwood Golf Course and stare at the sunrise over Lake Houston every single day, moved to Kingwood from Montgomery in August, haven’t had a chance to put my kayak in the lake yet.... but would love the opportunity to get some fishing in, and meet some good people. I go in around 5 am, but midweek through the weekend, am off pretty early.... hit me up anytime! New to this Forum, and looking forward to livening up this place... we need more posts! Haha.
