Got on the water late (1:30 PM) and ran up Caney. There were already 5 boats in the area plus bank fishermen. Most had heavy stringers but didn’t see any big fish. I caught a couple small ones but it was slow so headed back down river and caught a couple largemouth before heading home. Water temp was upper 60s and slightly stained / muddy.

Upper 60's? mine showed 49 Thursday. Headed back out this morning, will start at split but not waste too much time there. On a Sunday I would assume people coming from LHWP accessing it and kayakers. Will post up results, I am in a black Cajun with a white GT150, say hi if you ever see me out there.

On the temp I’m reading off my 3D. Busted my 2D off a couple months back. I’ve always thought the 3D read high so I’m guessing the temp was somewhere between between your reading and mine yesterday with two hot days and shallow dirty water. I had to get in when loading my boat and it definetly was warmer than 49 lol.

Surprisingly there was only 2 people who had walked in from LHWP. Several groups had road up in Jon’s and then wade fished.

Probably be Friday before I get to go again.

59 today and they were not at the split, but caught some big females and some slab crappie too. Will be back up there tomorrow, then Friday.

I haven't been out much out since Harvey. Wednesday I'll be the the guy moving around rather slow, I don't feel like buying a lower unit. Not sure if I'll go up to Caney, East Fork or Luce.
Thanks

BJs is closest to split with back in boat ramp unless you are member of Dunnam or live in The Commons. You can walk in and launch kayak at LHWP.

Get out to the East Fork channel from BJs by idling out along the bulkhead. Open the throttle wide open up the East Fork until you enter Caney. When you enter Caney make sure motor “loose” to pop up and follow typical river navigation (ie stay in outside bend). You will bump stuff but it’s not that hard to get up. Today I saw the following up river: bass boat, aluminum Jon, Carolina Skiff, kevlar lined skiff, and a pontoon. Slow and reasonable navigation and you got it.
