59 degrees today, caught some solid females and some slab crappie. Went to split and two guys bank fishing told me I was about hour late ( got there 845 or so) said they limited day before then some guy with his child in a big bass boat came all the way up to the split before shutting it down, about 15 yds from them maybe...not cool, told me they caught 2 more after that. I stayed at split about 20 mins , no bites so moved on downstream and threw near the bank and caught a solid one, then worked that area for 21 more and 4 BIG crappie, will be up there again tomorrow//with minners!!

Adventurous day to say the least. Took off and got about 3/4 of the way to my spot...motor died. got it going enough to see 2 boats at the big right of way headed for the split so turned back around and started back to where I was yesterday...die again. open it up, no fuel in the glass filter....out of gas!!! I trolled over and started fishing and got a double first cast, thought I was going to get them then managed only about 12-14. Luckily one of my neighbors called and told me he had put in and wanted to find me. Told him good, I need a tow anyway!!! He got to me and caught a handfule then got a call and had to get back so he towed me back to Dunham ( 13 mins no biggie) on the way tied on some bass tackle and when he got me near the mouth I untied and started fishing. They females were stacked all along that shoreline, caught several over there and even told a pontoon boat to join in. Lake patrol made an appearance and I left at 1215 total 42. Got some fuel and dipped boat back in water..started right up. Wont make that mistake again, gas guage is tempermental, going forward will determine what I need for the day and put at least that much in !!!

Temp 62 clarity about 1 ft. ylw grubs worked well but they really ate the fire tiger Bomber 3-5ft diver.

When I got to Dunham, I saw the biggest owl I have ever seen in my life, had a wingspan like a vulture, 6ft or better. Walked over and got a good look, every bit of 15lbs, there was another one back behind it talking to that one. My friend told me he has seen that one several times.

I got a chance to go today as well launching about 3:30 PM. Made it almost to the split and it was covered in boats. You would think it was Saturday! I turned around and started floating down stream and picking them up here and there. Found a couple spots that were stacked with white bass right near dark and ended up with over 20. All small to medium size males. Based on kinsdismis post looks like the females haven’t moved up yet.

Has anyone ever tried fishing for them at night with a greenlight in Caney?

Out this morning, man that wind was rippin and it I think the front turned the bite off. Where I hammered them Tue, got 1 ( decent) lmb, and a few swipe at it then was headed to the split and saw two yakkers, knew they came from that direction and the told me they were not biting up there. I fished with them ( let one guy use on of my rods as he broke his ) and we only got one. Went back to starting spot and just was not feeling it with that cold wind. But.. a friend sent me a pic from Cypress creek area above the horse stables and he had 15 nice crappie and some whites. Waiting to hear if he went today but I am going to yak Sat or Sun up there.

Lake water temp 58, some of the best clarity I have seen in months too. N-Ne about 15-18 though. I did not check barometer but I suspect it was high day after front.

Thank you for sharing. I have always wondered if they make it up that far in Cypress Creeks. True treasure you have found. I guess with enough flowing water they will continue traveling.
