Lowered the boat into the water at day break and had plans on doing a little crappie fishing. Noticed the water was a little muddy and the surface temp was 54 degrees. (that's almost ten degrees colder than what it was before this last front). I decided to grab my ulta-lite spin cast and try to find some white bass instead. I went waaaay up a creek and chunked rooster tails, rattle traps, and road runners. I only managed 2 fish, but they were hawgs. The big one was 18.25 inches and weighed 3.2lbs. It is pending verification, but that will be a new lake record, and a STATE catch and release record, seeing that I let her go after having her weighed at BJ's. My other fish weighed 2.6lbs.

If everything stands, this will be my 3rd water body record and my first state record.

Wow, that's a big WB! Congrats. I guess I'm not too surprised though, even though it's LH. Have been catching some bigguns in the main lake over the last two summers . . . I'm talkin' in the 17" - 17.5" range.

We went bank fishing on the W. Fork 02/02/10 and got 4 or 5 good sized white bass, a large mouth, and a blue cat. All on minnows. They were biting from about 7am to 10am

On the TPWD site his white bass is listed as a catch-n-release record for Lake Houston, but not listed as a state record. Not sure why that is. Anyway, great catch, and congrats on the lake record!!!
