I'm not real familiar with Lake Houston Is there a map that shows the different access point to Caney creek?

It is kind of shallow going in stay to the left side and idle going in till you learn your

way i go in there with my 19 foot skeeter bass boat. But there is deeper water in luces or the east fork

both produce whites just go way up both the east fork past the two housed high on the hill

and luces go as far as you can till the fallen trees wont let you go any farther. up past the golf course and

the big green ranch house on you left past the golf course you can make it around the bend past the

green house before you come to the trees you can't pass unless someone has cut an opening in it

since i was up there last.

A kind gentleman one day gave me a shyster to try. I really like them and they can catch fish when others don't. But I seem to have difficulty getting the blade to spin all of the time. Is their a trick to get that blade spinning? Any suggestions?

they will stop at at the least bit of grass , sticks or moss that gets trapped in the eye of the blade.

have to keep them cleaned out.

you can hold the bait out of a car window going down the highway that will help it.

we used to do that to our buzz baits to get that good squeal in the blades that drive

the Big Bass mad.

3 things may help, use mepps or blue fox inline spinners, they cost more and will run right out of package, they cost more for this reason. The mepps makes a single hook that will allow you to add a 2" to 3 1/2" grub on it in tru, black tru or white trailer on it.

On any hook eye of bait or jig if you use a inproved clinch knot, if you point the bait away from you, put the line in eye from the right side and in turn this will leave the tag end behind the knot so it is not in front of knot allowing it to not pick up trash and will allow it to run more freely as you retrinve it.

Once you start reeling it give it a fast retreive to get the blade spinning and should stay spinning as you slow your retrive and white bass like it running faster then black bass as they are more open water fish and enjoy the challenge to chase it as they tend to roam in schools.

Thank you for the tips. For whatever reason there is 1 certain shyster that catches white bass in the creeks for me - but this is based on very limited experience. Can you recommend a mepps or blue fox that sinks down like the shyster? I think the deeper riding shyster is a key to catching some white bass.
