Caught 10 yesterday with my father-in-law. The 1 drum was my 3 YO daughters first fish to pull in on her own. I cheated and used noodle jugs at 7-11 feet. All catches were on the river. I fished the lake for the first time yesterday and got zero bits so I guess my spot I picked was bad. Saw lots of activity on the sonar but nothing. Will try another spot next time.

That is just the right size drum to eat good white meat and has a
good texture to the meat.

We tried the drum. My neighbor brought us some white bass and we tried both, side by side. The drum's texture was more firm but overall we liked it better than the bass. I will try any fish. I have even cleaned and cooked a long nose gar from out there. Not sure I would recommend that unless you only make gar balls with it.

Weatherman, you are not the only one hunting catfish. It is my daughter's favorite food.

The white bass seem to taste better if you cut the rib cage out.
the gar are okay while they are warm after it cools down it is
very tough.

I like the white bass as well but you must cut out the bloodline or it’s really a strong taste...
