with record heat every day and a few post of people getting
over heated on the water.
dehydration can catch you off guard your doing the things you
enjoy and even though you feel hot you may never stop enough
to get a drink of water. People you need to drink every few minutes
out there Your body will loose water at home in the air conditioned
room so out side you will loose water and electrolytes much more
quickly if your not replacing them. DO not wait till your thirsty to
get a drink that is much to late.
Once you get dehydrated your body will never be the same.
there are a couple things out there that will help with dehydration
and restore electrolytes and that is Pedialyte OR DRIP DROP.
these will help you rehydrate your body if you have not gone to far and
have to go the hospital for an IV. drink these several times out on the
water .
Also put a towel in you ice chest and then keep it on the back of your
neck this will help to keep cool.

Emergen-C isn't a bad choice either. I was in the new orleans area mucking houses with a church group after Katrina and got heat exhaustion. A guy in our group had a packet of that and put it in a bottle of cold water. 15 minutes later with some rest, shade, and another bottle of plain water and I was good to go.

They do make a Emergen-C Hydration. not sure if the emergen-c vitamin
is the same or if you need the Hydration one that adds electrolytes .

I usually will keep a Gatorade or two handy this time of year. You don't have to be moving around much, if at all, for this heat to get to you. Another thing I've found is these new long sleeve shirts, either the vented button ups, or the moisture wicking ones with built in SPF qualities are a must and don't forget to keep your head and neck as covered as possible. The thing about heat stress and dehydration is they can sneak up on you before you realize it.
