Well I have started fishing lake houston the last couple of weekends. I haven't been on the lake prior to that in nearly 10 years. What I've done is fished a couple of places that I've seen folks fishing to get my confidence on what the fish are orienting to, what colors they like and what depths to key in on.

I caught just a couple on "spied" holes. Mainly because they were pretty well picked clean before I fished them. But using that info, I was able to head off in my own direction and find more fish at spots I haven't seen anyone on in the last 2 weekends or where I fished long ago.

Finding your "own" spots is far more rewarding than beating somebody else to their spot.

Well done Greg and it was nice to finally get to meet ya out there.....

Fantastic to meet you and sticko too.
Unless you're prefishing for a tournament. Then you have to go hit the other folks holes on Friday and strip all the good fish off of them. :)

I know some of the younger tournament fishermen go out and prefish there holes the
day before the tournament and sore lip all the fish then wonder why they don't catch many
on day of tournament they say i don't know why i could not catch them on tournament day
i caught a lot yesterday in practice. when i prefish i cut the point and barb off the hook and
try not to set the hook on them i just want to know if they are in the area.
only fish i will stick is in new areas then i only stick one or two and get off them.
if there is another boat in the area i will not even stick them. Even the other day
i got on a good pile fish hitting every drop a boat motored by and about that time i got
hit i did not set the hook but the fish stuck himself i just stuck the tip of the rod down in
the water so the people could not see the bend in the rod i jumped off the platform like
i was looking for something in the boat all the while waiting on the boat to move out of sight
then the fish comes up and starts jumping out of the water. now How many times you ever see
a crappie jumping out of the water. I dont believe the people caught on

My freezer has been full . have not kept any fish all spring. all my neighbors are tired of
eating fish.
saw one man had a stringer full of big fish yesterday he caught fishing minnows
18 inches down under a cork.

If i lived on the lake i would not even put any up i would just go out and catch
them the day before i needed them.

Keep talking SK see where that got you the last TWO MONTHS. I always take fish home to ILL. when I go visit on the fourth of July, I take two coolers full and we fry them up plus they put some up as well, That is probably why they are happy to see me every year. LOL

Well I haven’t been able to get out anywhere due to my health reasons, but God answered my prayers about giving me some relief with one of my issues about three weeks ago. Prior to that I was bed ridden and ready to give up. Now all I need is a good day to go in my kayak and get on some crappie. I’ve found about five holes I’ll be returning to and hopefully I’ll get on some fish. Just getting out again and being able to function will be a treat. If I catch some fish that’s icing on the cake. God is good.
