how do you target only black crappie
is there a special technique / color / depth / presentation?

I ask because I do believe that the black crappie fillets are thicker than the white. It just seems that they have more meat pound for pound.

Why yes there is.....
I have found that they prefer to feed at the top of the structure but not always....
As you may know I always have 4 rods which I keep different jigs on...
Most days I find that I will catch white crappie on one color & black crappie on a different color, there are no certain color for each as some days the color that worked for one species will work only on the other species.
Change, change & change is what has helped me target them....
During the summer they are for sure the species to target specially during the tourneys.....
There are times I'll fish a pile & there will seem there are NO feesh there, drop a different jig down there & be thankful I dint just leave without putting in that work.....
I guess the more important things is feesh your jig as soon as it enters the water & try different color combos to help put them in your boat....

As an "equal opportunity eater", I will graciously retrieve whichever species chooses to get hooked.

Oh wow...it took me a whole day to catch that one. Shame on me.

That's some top notch humor right there.

Maybe the white crappie are in that 20' channel your looking for Jeff? But truth be told after all the hours I spent on sheldon. If you find that 20 foot channel keep a phone close by as your likely to see Bigfoot fishing for Nessie. Even I smiled at that one.

SK caught them all. There's no more white crappie in Sheldon. Just take the TPWD's word for it. :D :D

https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwd ... 3_2015.pdf

I'm telling ya, it's gotta be there lol I seen bigfoot doing the backstroke in the cypress field. The lake info page on the TPWD website says it has a max depth of 10 feet, BUT the 2015 fisheries survey up there says they recorded a max depth of 20 feet.
