some of the tails on your jig pictures look fairly long
compared to the 1/2- 2 inch tails in the store.
Have you noticed any preference in the fish hitting them
do the bigger baits produce bigger or more fish as some might say.
what is the overall length from head to end of tail on the longest

I for sure want my jigs not to look like anything that comes out of a store.....LOL those things are made to make a profit not to catch feesh....
I don't have a set length & have never even put a tape measure to see how long one is....LOL
I know I have experiment with some LONG tails but didn't see any major improvement in getting bit......

yes sir yours look better than the tails out of the store.
but the plastic tails are usually 1-1/2 inch two inches.
I know they do not like the large minnows to well either.
I also know they are not liking the 3 inch tails that well
but was not sure if they would hit the 3 inch feathers
since they are not that massive. Just trying to get
some answers for any newbies wanting to learn
and not knowing what questions to ask

You've got me thinking now, tomaro evening I'll put a tape measure to a few to see whay they measure....
I know my 1/32 & 1/64 may not even make a inch long & some of my 1/8 are probably pushing 2 1/2 to 3 inches...
I just have never measured one to see what the length was....

I know some will argue this with me be cause as a Bass fisherman at times i have
caught crappie on some big crank baits. large spinner baits. I have even caught
them on 6 inch plastic worms. But this only happened to me in the spring time.
these time are very rare.

most times crappie are very finicky in what they want . a lot of people will fish only
fish very lite line and a 128th ounce jig. At times when i did fish a 3 inch tail i got
bigger fish but a lot fewer bites,

I totally agree..... but on that same note I've caught some Molly Whoppers on 1/64 & 1/32 with a #6 hook.... I think it's juss the attitude of the feesh at the time the bait is in it's zone.... I do catch fewer lil'uns on the bigger jigs....

I juss got to measure several of my jigs, most of the 1/64 & 1/32 are around the 1" mark some a tad longer.... the 1/16 & 1/8 measured for the most part 2 1/4" some were 2" & some were 2 1/2 to 2 3/4".....there was only a few that made 3 inch mark.....
Guess I've got a good eye for length, I was surprised at how many were the same length.....

Man you are really good at jigging those brush piles i never saw you hang up
one time in 8 movies. Like Roy Rogers he never lost his hat in a fight. I stay hung
up most of the time . You need to teach me that trick.

That flood really moved things around i have not found a stump on any of my old
way points yet . There were two ridges that had brush on top and all down the sides
on the slope from 5 foot on top to 12 foot on bottom. One ridge is completely gone
and is 15 feet deep where it was 5 foot . The other ridge has all the brush gone from it.
But there is a lot of places now that the bottom is just riddled with trees all mangled together.
I think i mentioned on here i didn't think the trees rooted in the ground on the bottom of
the lake would move . Well that was wrong that force of the water has moved stumps
that have been there before the lake was formed. Certainly an adventure out there.

Yes sir that flood moved a lot of dirt, the bayou really took a good flushing & several of the submerged stumps I've feeshed for years are gone......
Up in the east fork I seem a few very big trunk pines trees that were snapped like a tooth pick..... that water had some serious power....
I seen some areas that use to be 2 & 3' that are now 20+ft now & areas that were 12 to 18' that are now 6'....
