After reading numerous posts on multiple sites... i gather it's still 50/50 if one should unplug the trailer lights before submerging trailer.

It is my take that: Seasoned boaters do, simply because they have from the black and white days and don't like change. Millennials don't, because it is an extra step and have been told they are submersible LED lights and that water can't penetrate under any circumstance...and they believe that BS.

i don't see anything in my owner's manual concerning recommendations either way...

Any feedback from the experts...taking into account the new highly sophisticated computerized vehicles and LED lighting?

the bulbs i have are totally sealed and i never unhook the lights
i use them 6 to 8 years before having to replace one but they are 6.95 each.
back in the day when the bulbs would blow if you didn't unplug them the
bulbs were 25 cents each. even then the bulbs hardly went out the connectors
would rust first. some people back then said they would blow if you ran for
a lot of miles getting the bulb hot then launching in the cool water would cause
the bulb to blow out but that just is not true .i fished every weekend for over
35 years traveling 3 -4 or 5 hours to the tournament site. never unplugged the lights.
dump the boat in and go fishing hardly ever blew a light.

But if you want to unplug the lights you also need to sit there till the bulb cools
might save you a light or two.

Can't unplug the lights on mine, or else the surge brakes would lock up when I put back the trailer in...

And no, I don't want to put the pin in the hole to disable the trailer brakes.

I leave mine plugged in. I have a 6 or 7 pin round connector on my truck from when I towed a travel trailer with electric brakes. I have to use an adapter to hook up the 4 pin trailer wires. I have lost the adapter when unplugged so I don't unplug it. Did 40 years ago though.
