Anybody know a closer place to Kingwood to get ethanol free gas? All Ive found is Browders in Coldspring (Lake Livingston), Bucees in Katy, and Bucees in Waller.

Here is info for anybody curious.

D&L Motorsports - Conroe - Gulf Aero (Racing / AV Gas) - 93 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free Gulf Aero - $7.07 per gallon. Bring your own container. They sell it by the gallon.
Browders Marine - Coldspring (Lake Livingston) - 87 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free - Unknown price. Bring your own container. Sold from pump.
Midtex Oil - Conroe - Torco (Racing Gas) - 100 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free - $500 for 55 gallon drum
Bucees - Katy - Has 87 & 92 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free - I found the 92 pumps at the south side pumps at the far east side of the island. Here is the 10% ethanol and ethanol free prices for comparisons.
87 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free - $3.179
87 Octane Unleaded 10% Ethanol - $1.879
93 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free - $3.429
92 Octane Unleaded 10% Ethanol - $2.429

Best Part of Bucees story.....I used Pump 202 to first fill up my Raptor (36 gallon tank) with 93 Octane 10% Ethanol as normal. Truck claimed 36 miles to empty and needle was as close to Empty as Ive ever run it. Filled it up and it stopped at 31 gallons. I thought weird but maybe it wasn't low as I thought. Then I filled up my two rolling 14 gallon gas cans with the 92 Octane Unleaded Ethanol Free.......using 24 gallons per the pump! Either my truck tank and my rollie tanks manufacturer volume specs are wrong or I got about 8 gallons of free gas between the two!

I fish Sabine Lake about as often as anywhere else here lately. I have been launching on the Louisiana side a lot. I have bought no-name convenience store no ethanol gas in Johnson Bayou at the usual price. My boat has a 48 gallon tank. It's 82.5 miles and 1hr 23 min to Johnson Bayou. It's 72.5 miles and 1hr 13min to Katy Buc-ees. No brainer for me to drive to Louisiana rather than tow a 21ft bay boat through Houston traffic.
I assume the Katy Buc-ees is in Waller County and it's legal to sell no ethanol for highway use there??
I have also bought no ethanol in Sulphur LA. just off I-10.

upacreek,

Thanks for Louisiana info.

For me Bucees is going to work as I go to Midland or San Antonio at least once a month for work. Plan to just fill my rollie cans up whenever I ride by. Makes my trip 0 additional cost or time from a personal perspective.

Bucees Katy is either in Forth Bend or Waller. Never paid attention to signs and not 100% clear from online maps. What I dont understand is from environmental regs Ive read Harris County and all counties touching Harris County can not sell ethanol free gas. Both Fort Bend and Waller touch Harris so not really understanding how they sell it. Ive also been told the Bucees in Freeport (Brazoria County) sells 87 ethanol free so it appears what I read is not correct for it either.

Either way Ive got a good source now.

Ahhhh....I figured it out.

Bucees is selling isobutanol (ethanol free) gas from Gevo. Since they are using corn to produce it the EPA has certified it as renewable source like ethanol gas. The stated benefit of isobutanol is it does not have an affinity to water (hydroscopic) like ethanol. I agree it is less hydroscopic but all alcohol attract water to some extent more than plain old dinosaur fart carbon compounds. The other stated benefit is it produces more power than ethanol gas but still less than dinosaur fart gas. I figured it would still have some concerns with destorying fuel lines, seals, etc but it appears several airlines have used it already. With that being the case Im sure numerous studies have been done to prove there is no issues there.

My final thought...definetly better than ethanol gas for boat motors, small engines, etc but not as good as the old stuff.

Another comment...

In my two stroke Stihl engines (blower, weed eater, x2 chain saws, x2 hedge trimmers) I only run 110 leaded racing fuel. I can tell a DEFINITE difference between it and 93 octane with 10% ethanol. I never have cranking issue no matter how long it has set and power performamce is MUCH better, particulaly with my chain saws and blower. With the weed eater and trimmers I cant tell difference performance wise but I never have cranking issues.
