got a small little repair needing done -- question have is think can just coat it with fiberglass resin or dyna-glass maybe or should actually put some cloth on it also?

that is not deep enough for cloth. but you could cut up
fiber and mix strands in the resin then paint with white epoxy paint.
would sand smoother.

most use gel coat which is a little harder to work.

or snow white bondo.

then 1 layer of FLEX SEAL

Would use White Marine-tex is all it needs to fix it. No fiberglass resin or fiber needed.

get a plastic putty knife to apply it as smooth as possible so you have less to sand once it cures.

some light grit sand paper, to finish it up after it cures.

use plastic gloves while working with this and a paper mask when you sand it also.

1st would wash area with acetone, light sand and knock the loose chips off the area to be sealed up.

2 after it cures put a coat of wax back on the areas as the acetone will take the wax off the areas you use it on.

Would highly recommend putting a keel guard or hamby beaching bumper on your boat also to protect it in the future.


Flex seal might work but I would not try it on my boat, lol

went and picked some up today at North Shore Marine. Got it put on and gonna leave it alone till Wednesday to fully cure good before final sanding, if even do that. Not really worried about looking perfect as long as does the job. Used the extra to just fill in other small gashes on bottom. $18 bucks for 2oz kit so wasn't that bad, I was out of resin so would of had to buy some of that anyway.

but wait....buy now and we'll double it for free

how did it turn out and post a afier pic when you get time so we can see how it looks now.

havent sanded on it yet been busy with other things

solid looking patch should be great once sanded smooth.

I put it on little thick probably but not too worried about looks just as long as it does the job, lol. Tried to smooth it out little more but started tacking up on me and didn't want to start pulling it off while trying to work it. Stuff is solid and hard though so should work good.

you can sand it fairly quick with air or electric just keep it wet all the time.

very nice and that will work fine as it is on there since you are not worried about the looks.

I used it on a spot on the pad on my boat years ago and it's still like the day it was put on .

it just needs one final top coat of FLEX SEAL and you'll be done
