Who here carries boat insurance and whom do you go through for it? Have been considering it and happen to check out boatus and skisafe, surprised to say it's not near as much as I thought it would be. Checking to see other providers and thoughts on it if others have experienced using it. Seeing so many accidents lately and boats breaking down on facebook groups that decided to look into it myself. Skisafe quoted $226 a year for 6K boat coverage, 1500 machinery coverage, 1500 trailer coverage, 500 disappearing deductible, 1k cover for on water towing, 1500 deductible on storm coverage, 25k medical and liability, 10k wreck removal, Fire, Theft and Collision included. Boatus quoted $476 (142 down / 7 payment of 53) for about the same coverage give or take little.

I am looking for insurance as well. Boat US quoted me a couple months ago at $780/yr for $7500 in coverage.

Progressive was $900/yr when I quoted two years ago. It has probably gone up.

Essentially, insurance is good for a TOTAL loss/theft and/or liability & peace of mind. Good luck if you have a $2000.00 mistake. They wrote the fine print and loop holes in their favor.

skisafe seem to be pretty good price for the coverage -- just wondering though if say for instance boat goes down, flips over or fills with water is that considered a total loss? I would think obviously it would be on the motor, I would think -- guess something to think about or ask. I guess just seeing all the pics of boats going down or getting caught on sand bars then rolling over lately has just got me wondering and thinking on it. Even seen some pics of some recently burned while out on water, that would be one I would really hate cause have to abandon boat for sure then -- seatow always showing some crazy stuff that happens and just makes one wonder
