i bought a humminbird helix-7 with side imaging . starboard side transom mount on a 19 ft boat with a 15deg. dead rise . transducer is mounted 18 in. from center .
my problem is , it reads the starboard fine . Port side , it only reads out to about 20 ft , then it fades to a dark screen .
very little lmprovement when i tilt the engine up . everything else on the unit works fine .
i've unplugged the transducer to put the unit in display mode , display mode shows up just fine . i've checked the pins for contact , they are good . rechecked the transducer for flatness and level , looks good .
i would so much appreciate any suggestions on what else i could try before i start dealing with factory .
thanks in advance .

some of the bass boats have sponsons that come out may be blocking it on that side

may have to put a straight edge across transom to make sure nothing is sticking out

to block it . also does it do that with the engine off , might be prop wash.

even though raising the engine should have helped that.

They are very nice at Humminbird and helpful

if you have a cell phone call them while your on the

water they will give you some test to do to try to clear the issue

up on your own before having you to send it in for warranty repairs.

phone 1-800-633-1468

Dumb idea but make sure it's sitting level in the water I have the same problem sometimes with my boat when it lists side to side depending on where I'm standing

Hey fish1,

Please post what you figure out. I have a new helix 7 on back and I'm having the exact same problem.
