Yea going up the west fork is tricky. Took me awhile to find the channel. Here is a link to google map of the baic route I take. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=20 ... 7,0.027788 (Full disclaimer I have not been out this year, so take it slow and at your own risk.) You basicly have to follow the buoys as far as they go. Then angle to the left. There is a big stump in the middle of the river, if its showing, you should be to the left of that. Angle twards the dock at the point before the river turns west. As soon as you get to the dock on the point, there is a deep channel that goes due north. You cant angle into the river. You have to turn an cross the sand bars. The channel is 3-4 feet deep. Once your into the main river channel your home free.

Is this route still good for passage into the West Fork? I have not been from main lake in a while?

No that is no longer the same route. There is a sand bar now that has filled in and blocked off this old route. Just past the last house on the left that is on the water you will need to make a hard left and cut back to the right where you will see white PVC pipes sticking out of the water then make a left and follow to the left of center of the channel. Make sure when you get to the end of the peninsula on the right that you do not cut to the right too quick due to you will cross over a large log jam.

Also the same when leaving the west fork and you come to the opening on the right you will need to make sure to stay to the right side off of center and stay away from the point of the peninsula.

It is always best to follow someone the first time especially if you have a GPS and can track the route.

Be careful and have a good time.
