I wanted an inexpensive catwalk for my boat, so I drew up the plans in Microsoft paint and then I built one. Its from 1/4" X 3" wide flatbar. Welded at a 90 degree angle and bolted on top of my trailer. The board on top is 1" X 6" treated deckboard cut to 36" long, covered with carpet and then bolted down to the 2 brackets. Brackets are bolted to the frame with 5/16" bolts. Brackets sprayed with galvanizing spray.
see drawing and pics below.

you did a nice job.

i would be afraid to drill a hole through the tongue of the of the trailer . Thinking it may wreaking the channel.

i think i would have put it on with u bolts around the tongue and ran the bar flat just past the tongue enough to catch the other leg of the "u bolt"

Is this what u r talking about? I did not think one bolt was going to hurt anything where there is hardly any weight. Its just one bolt.

could not tell by your picture of the u bolt .

your one bolt may not hurt a thing. if you have a aluminum boat and not much weight .
on the tongue of your trailer.
but i have seen trailers snap into right there on some fiberglass boats on the launch ramp.

the U bolt i was talking about would go around the out side of the square tubing tongue.
Then through the flat bar that holds your walk board.

kind of like your boat winch is bolted on. with the two u-bolts

That's what I was trying to show in my drawing. Its a 1548 G3 allwelded boat.
