Just registered on forum and first time on lake Houston tomorrow! I grew up fishing crappie with my papaw and mamaw on lake washington,ms. Got the 2yr old and 4yr old and wife with me. Where is the best place to fish in november? depth? Minnows or jigs? Jig color? upper or lower lake? Got the hd7gen with structure scan.

2, 4 & wife???
Don't go too far from the ramp so you don't have to travel back too far 45 minutes later....
You are one gutsy fella...
Take minnows and an extra bucket, when the kids get bored, they can play with the minnows in the bucket... Take drinks and snacks for them. And some hand wipes.
Might want to follow birds for white bass? Boat riding and fishing all tied into one. When you see the birds diving, fish as close to them as you can.

For crappie, fish east fork of the San jacinto river coming into L Houston on the northeast side. Minners are fine, but if you fish jigs, fish one with a lot of pink in it. Look for brush on your finder and fish down around 8 feet, above and around it. Good luck

They bit good early this morning on chartreuse jigs with gold flake .
but shut down once the sun got up. They bit good all day yesterday.
guess the front has something to do with it . Fish are tight to the
brush . If you are bumping wood you should get bit. Minnows probably
the better bet as finicky as the crappie are today. But most days the
jigs have been producing good. fish the upper end of the east fork
brush 8 to 11 feet down.

I'd advise you take it slow out there especially with your family aboard... there are a lot of sand bars out there....
