Got out for a couple hours today. Launched on the south end around 9:30 and stayed there because the fog was pretty thick( don't know the lake that well) Scouted around for some crappie spots without much luck, only managed a couple dinks. Decided to throw some crank baits around some laydowns on the shoreline and got a couple bucket mouths and 3 decent size whites. Water temp was 53 and I won't comment on the color until I know what it usually looks like :D

nice white. A few years back the wife and i launched on the south end and the fog

was really bad . this was before i had a depth finder with a map of the lake and tracks

to follow . was just running by compass when we happened up on a boat that was lost in the

fog that morning . The men in it had no idea where they were and were scared to death they

said they were worried about going over the dam. There have been reports of people going

over that dam. Anyway they fell right in on the back of my motor and stayed with me

all the way across the lake to the east side once we saw land they were off going north .

just said this for people getting out in the fog on that end with out any navigation skills.

or equipment to do so.

What we had on the lake today was called sea fog. It happens when a warm air mass moves over cooler water. Similar to what you see in San Francisco Bay. It wasn't too bad when I hit the south end of the lake this morning but shortly thereafter it really socked in. Never been on the lake when it was that bad. Visibility was zero. Don't know what I would have done without the compass to navigate back. Even then, I wound up on the west side of the lake where the power lines come ashore before turning back northeast.

Yup, it was pretty bad. That picture doesn't do it justice. I literally went through spots that I couldn't see 10 ft in front of the boat. I just putt putted around close to the shoreline so I didn't get run over by some jackalope in a ski boat.
