Went out today with a friend in unknown to us marsh. Learning and exploring the area as we went on the hunt for some fish.
Tackle was artificial all the way. Gulp mullet dark back white belly char tail and I used new penny shrimp with chart twin tail.

We fished about 5 hours cause my buddy had to go to work at 2pm. We found the Reds blowing up in weeds right around 11:45. And my buddy couldn't fish much more. Because the drive out was little over and hour. Not counting the paddling trip.
He landed a nice slot Red. And Lost a better one.
I landed a 16-1/2 inch flounder and spooked 7. 10 inches of water is ruff :(.
2 of those rascals was in a little dug out spot in the grass. I fan casted that entire hole. It was only 15 feet across. With a small cut through to another open are in the grass. Well when I finished fan casting that entire 15 foot spot i paddled into it to go for that clearing. And then 2 flounder burned off from in that area i fan casted. My jaw dropped. And said out loud. "Seriously?" You guys let me drag that gulp shrimp right over you and didn't take it?... And to sum it up I missed 3 that bit and I was caught off guard and went to set the hook.... You can't do that with flounder,!

So we had to leave the area cause time was up. Good news is we at least caught something. And found a nice spot in some unknown marsh. We will be going back. My buddy gave me the Redfish. So when i got home. I didn't waste time.

now that is what you call fresh fish right from the water

to the frying pan. You did good tomkat. sometimes the

unknown spots pay off better than spots you fish alot.

Makes for a great meal. Bet that was a lot of fun catching them from kayaks.

Thanks guys, I eneed up with bronchitis that evening. Still sick now from it.
I can't win this month. I missed the whole month for bow season and got a couple days fishing in. Been sick 3 times now. Virus, down in my back and bronchitis. What's next? I never get sick! Now it's stacked up on me!

First time ever to try redfish.
It was cool to see them swim around me. And those flounder hide well. I was right on them before they spooked. Close enough to use a gig. I used to do that as a teenager at night with a lantern.
This area would be good to do the same. But your not going to walk to it lol.
