went out with Dutch . I have not been on the water

in a long while. Dutch called me and asked if i would go with him to fish

luces bayou. The water was in good shape at the ramp . But got more

muddy the closer we got to the mouth of the bayou. So we turned around

and headed up the bayou. We caught a lot of smaller crappie in the 9

to 10 inch range finished the day with 7 crappie in the 11 to 12 inch range.

fish were holding around cover close to the surface and hitting from 6 inches

to three feet below the surface . several colors worked . brown/orange

blue/white black/truse lite green/dark green.

one man told us the white bass were turning on in the bayou. way

early i thought.

yes sir feel that jig all the way down from the

minute it touches the water to the end of your drop.

also realize the pattern once you see it .The same pattern

will produce all day long even on different parts of the

lake if all else is the same.

Sticko, glad to hear you got back out on the water and caught some fish. I remember last year about this time I went with snaphot in the bayou. We caught them that way too. I was surprised they were so shallow like that. I spider rigged it and set my jig just about 12 inches under the water. We were fishing in 6 feet of water.

Great job guys, glad to hear you two put some keepers in the box. Seven keepers will make a good meal.

Dutch have you been out chasing the crappie this week. I plan on going in the morning and was wondering if any of you have been doing any good.

Was out with Sticko today. I caught twice as many keepers than he did. He only got one. Water in east fork and Luce was significantly off color and we had blue bird skies. At least the wind was manageable but built up a little in the afternoon. I need to figure out how to put a foot stool in the front of my boat so I can have a recliner up there. Got quite a few throwbacks, and the three we kept were all under 11 inches. Long line trolled, spider rigged some, and mostly jigged brush and stumps. Catching jig colors were black/trues and brown/orange.

yes he said we were jigging brush piles and stumps

but every place he dropped his orange marker i jigged all around

it all day and never felt one limb or stump any where close to where

he was dropping the marker . I would say i don't feel any brush around

the marker then he would say oh it not at the marker it on over there

five yards away. the water was off color more in the bayou than

the river and the blue bird skies had the fish skittish and they were

very tight to the limbs when ever dutch would let me close enough

to touch a limb i usually got a hit which wasn't to often. lol
