Took my 8 year old grandson to nasa park lake.

he never fished before. He caught 8 fish in about an

hours time with some nice catfish up to 4 pounds .

one he was pulling up the side of the bank a big water

snake grabbed a hold of the catfish . My grandson jumped

back i took the pole from him trying to get the boy away from

being close to the snake. The snake was about four feet long

i had the fish and the snake on the bank at my feet with nothing

to kill the snake, Or really not knowing what to do at this time.

finally the snake opened his mouth and fell off the fish to the ground .

he slid back off the bank into the water. got real exciting there for a minute

when he hit the ground glad he turned to the lake. I knocked the crap out

of the snake with the end of my pole and the snake bit the end of my pole

he held on the end of the pole long enough for me to lift him all the way out

of the water.

Sounded like it was one determined snake. Made for an interesting trip. Is that the same place where Dutch fishes sometimes?

you would have paid dearly to see this circus.

The boy was not that afraid of the snake , most kids would have jumped

back gut he wanted to stand there . He said i knew grandpa would not

let the snake get him. I was trying to get the boy to get back and keep

my eyes on the snake. That snake was damn fast. At the same time i had

propped my rod up against the overhead walk way with my hook hanging

in the air with bait on it . A stupid duck saw it and bit the thing got the hook

stuck in him flopping around and got the tip of my rod hung in the fence wire

about to break it. yep with all this going on i forgot to snap a picture sk

but did get this one later . Yes this is the same lake Dutch fishes wm

you wont have to worry about the snake i am going back to take care of

him when i don't have the kid to watch out for.

Did you have a good talk with the snakes and tell them to leave hooked fish and people alone? ... or was a 3-iron the best tool that day?

Sticko, sounds like your having a time with them there snakes. A good snake is a dead snake. I had a coperhead today trying to get a free ride on my mower while I was cutting my back lawn. I almost got him ,but he took off to the woods beside me before I could run him down. Hopefuly he will keep going in the direction he was heading. Be careful around them ponds for they are a mating place for those sneaky thans. May what to find another spot to fish, like inside of your boat.
