In at sun up from lake Houston marina, ran north to luces bayou inlet. Worked my way all the way from the main lake to the first big island in luces. Zilch. Tons of boats fishing Lilly pads, didn't see anyone set a hook. Where are all the black bass?

All the black bass are hiding from all the boat traffic, they have all moved down to the 1960 bridge in the deeper water so they won't get a prop ran threw there forehead. The rest of them jumped over the dam.HA HA. : :

Have you tried fishing semi-deep ledges? I went out Sunday as well around 11:00AM-2:30PM and picked off a few bass in around 6-10 foot of water. I tried fishing shallow at first but the quality of fish under the cypress trees and deep cover wasn't what I was looking for. "The horseshoe" straight across from Luces Bayou had a lot of schooling bait fish, I fished the ledge a bit first with a chrome rattle trap and got a few bass around 12 inches or so. Switched to a Texas Rig paddle tail and got a few keepers off of some cover in 10 feet of water. Try looking at my post, 'Are Summer Patterns Upon Us?' The guys on here really helped me out of my post-spawn slump.

Whatever you do stay away from the schooling baitfish. If you are lucky enough to find any bass feeding on them most are small. Hard to beat soft plastics after water warms into the 80's. Oh yea, a lot of LH fisherman are masters at disguising the fact that they have a fish on their line especially when others are passing by. I had a couple guys try and hide the fact that they had hooked a fish on one of the most "overfished points in the East Fork(in my opinion) as I was passing by. Really????????????? I have probably caught over 100 bass on the same point ranging from 10 inches to 5lbs. Pretty funny if you ask me.

Ucbm I got redemption for Friday on Sunday afternoon

And it is defiantly good advice to stay away from the schools of shad unless you just want to put the fish smell in the boat or get the kids on to easy fish I like reaction baits this time of well more or less all year

That reminds me of the time i was trying to

hide a bass i had hooked on soft plastics .

a boat came by slowly trying to scope out

my fishing spot . I had already set the hook

on a decent bass so i just layed the rod down

put my foot on it . and acted like i was lighting a

cigarette . this Bass comes to the top trying to

throw the hook and it is jumping all over the place

out there as the man went by. I mean this bass jumped

four or five times in the little while the boat went by.

I like showing mine off because a lot of people fish the same lure differently

Today, 3 nice white bass along the docks near lake shadows. Still can't find a black bass in this lake! I'm starting to think they've all fell over the dam!

Mr. Sticko that's too funny. Daniel you are right, we have all went right behind someone who had just fished a spot and caught some fish. Feels pretty good when I do it but hate when it happens to me, lol.

Today I tried deeper spots in the lower lake. Finally caught 2 bass on the roadbed near the HPD ramp/station. Saw tons of fish on my side scanning sonar. Both caught on black jig. No luck on soft plastics. Tried the stump field south of the railroad, again nada. This time of year is just a tough bite.

Good job. It is a hard time right now catching the big predator fish on Houston it seems and catching even one is good news to me! Hope you catch more!

Keep Hammering Away man. There are fish biting out there. I smoked them today. Numbers were great. I caught at least 50 and stopped counting. Best 5 only about 13lbs but they were schooling and it was fun. Mayfly hatch had bream going and the bass weren't far behind. Shad were everywhere as well and they were getting blasted by the smaller fish.
