On Dec 26th did some scouting back in pockets. In the last slough on the west side just south of the Caney / East Fork Merger I saw 6 hogs. Using my trolling motor I was able to slip to less than 30 yards of them on the bank and they never noticed me. I know their eye sight is bad but I figured they would at least here the trolling motor or notice the “aircraft carrier” coming at them. Finally gave them a “Souieeeee” and they took off running

Then just south on the west side I spotted what I thought was a beaver until it crawled up on land and then back in the water. It was a River Otter....ive never seen one in the wild before. I tracked him a little by his bubbles and he was able to outswim my TM. After coming back up for air he went ninja style on me with no bubbles and gave me the slip.

Got videos of both encounters. Ill post soon as I link them on YouTube.

There are more otters around here than most folks realize. I've had them swim up to me when standing in flooded green timber while duck hunting in central Liberty County. They seem to have a bit of curiosity. They're cool animals.

I thought otters were afraid of humans. I guess those over there are used to us and, as you said, very curious.
