Looking at where I want to launch from regularly once I get my boat in relation to where I store it. I know a lot of people on here seem to prefer Ponderosa or Lake Houston Marina but what is the exact problem with BJs ramp? I know people say no problem with small boats but big boats are a no go. Is it the ramp doesn't slope enough? Water around the ramp is shallow? What is the exact problem? I've kayaked all around there several times but being in kayak never really paid any attention to the ramp itself.

for my boat the ramp does not drop off enough to float the boat . you have to get way back
before the ramp drops enough . might work for your inboard but outboard the prop will
hit the concrete and tear up prop or lower unit

I like BJ's for my Dargel don't like it so much for my dingy.....
Like Sticko said the ramp had a long slope...
The area being shallow is no big deal just stay close to the bulkheads until you're out near the river....

Back when the lake was 7 feet down several years ago, I saw BJ's re-pouring their ramp. Most ramps have a downward curve below the water to let the boats get deep enough quickly. Theirs doesn't have the downward curve... it is just a straight slope. I have to get the back wheels of my truck in the water a ways before I can launch there, which means I have to wade to do it. Both L.H. Marina and Ponderosa have downward curving slopes on their ramps. I have an annual pass at Ponderosa for $200, so if I launch only once a week it is about $5 per launch. On the other hand, the people at BJ's are nice folks and give a discount to seniors to launch. If you can launch your boat there, that is the place to do it.

As I suspected the usual complaint about ramps. We have the same problem with our ramp on the lake back home in Georgia. Sticko...I think you are probably right. With the inboard I shouldnt have any worries but like Dutch said Ill have to wade to boat. Thanks for the feedback.
