A friend of mine told me his trim started giving him problems this weekend while fishing on Toledo Bend. It works fine when trimming up, but will not trim down. Any of you run in to this before?

what motor does he have?

it could be a relay switch has gone out, he should have 2 of them and can swap them to see if 1 has gone bad and change it out as they are pull and plug.

yep one for up and one for down but you should be able to just jump across them check them out.

also check the connection coming off the trim motor where it goes up the power head
that connection gets corroded and it is hard to find only about half way up from the
motor.

They are in different places depending on what type motor you have
they are all under the motor cover so pull it . then hit the switch to make the
trim to go up or down you will hear a clicking sound around the power head
that should help you locate it . Mercury's and usually at the bottom. I have an
evinrude and mine are both in a little box close to the top of the power head.
this youtube will tell you what to do . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzr2sixN3Jg
