I saw those a couple years ago. Very sad situation. Its a shame that he had to go through that just for having some good clean fun. The upside is that your eyes heal faster than any other part of your body. If no lense damage was done then in about 3-4 days after the removal he should be able to see almost as good as before. Any loss in sight would be a result of any scaring left directly over the lens but to be truthful when I got my eye scratch over the lens I didnt notice the scaring.
