When was the last time you saw one of those???

I picked one up about 10 years ago but haven't done anything with it yet. Needless to say it doesn't look as good as the one pictured but without much as far as money it could. Being a 1957 it was built the same year I was born. Hence the reason I wanted it. That and the old 57 style rear fins it has are just too cool.
My plans are to restore it with a few upgrades including a slightly newer late 60's early 70's 40 hp Merc I have and regular cable steering. (it has or did have the old cable and pulley system) It doesn't have a wind shield so I'll have to custom build one for it. Unlike the one above, here's some more pix of one with an original wind shield. http://www.theclassicboathouse.com/texasmaid57.html That's about what mine looks like but without the wind shield, spot light or horn on it. (Don't suppose any of you know where there's an old boat sittin around with a windshield kinda like that do ya?)

As in the first pictures, most of it will be polished aluminum with an accent color. Since its a Texas Maid boat built in Lewisville, TX. I might go with a Texas theme. (blue with red pin striping and a white star)

Once I get it drug out of the weeds and cleaned up a little I'll post some pix of it.

Thanks for the tip sticko. I took a look at their web site and their apparently pretty proud of their work. I cant do $400 bucks for one. I'll have to find or figure out something else for it.

Thanks again.
Robert

I not know if the shop is still there but several yrs ago (15-20) I bought some plexiglass from them & they did specialized cuts/work.
On Sheldon road, south of I-10 on right side.

Yeah, I'd say 15-20 would definitely qualify as several years ago. LOL!!!

I don't get out that way very often but next time I'm headed to the river/Loves Marina I'll make the detour south down Sheldon and see if I can find it. Is the place several blocks or several miles down Sheldon? (by several I'm talking 3-5) Not 15-20.

Thanks for the tip.
Robert

That looks like a lot of fun. I love working on old boats or old cars. Looks like its in good shape. Keep us updated on your progress. I use to restore old cars some, but my wife said the cars or me had to go. :(

Yeah, its in exceptional condition for a 54 year old aluminum boat. Like all old riveted boat I suspect its gonna have a few leaks but nothing that can't be fixed. Other than that the hull is in great condition.

It's gonna be a lot of work and at the same time a fun little project. My progress might be kinda slow but I'll keep yall updated as things progress.
