After almost a year wrestling with foot/ankle pain, swelling and other assorted problems I finally got a second and and even a third medical opinion. Long story made short, I had surgery last Friday and will be in a cast for 6 weeks then on to therapy for another 6 weeks. Maybe mid to late fall I'll be back out on the water. Lesson learned: If you don't think things are being done that should be done, go get another opinion.
Looking at the Xray, I think the surgeon went out to my jeep and got a deck screw out of my tool bag and used it in my ankle. I hope he picked one of the good galvanized ones.

Sorry about that rk. I know what you’re going through. I’ve been healing for over a year from spine surgeries. It takes patience and time but you’ll get there. I hope I can start fishing again around November. Yack

Wow Yack. I bet you set off metal detectors just driving by the airport! Yes, a lot of patience is needed for sure.

Hope you get well soon, rk! There is nothing to worry, you're gonna be as steady as rock soon. My father had a similar operation last year and it's like they made him a brand new foot :D I can't believe watching my grouchy old man running and jumping around while fishing like a 9 year old. I wanted to buy a flat in Germany and move there to live with my sister for a long time ago but anyway I couldn't leave my father because of his health problems. Now as he's healthier than me then I guess finally it's the right time to make an action.

That's good to hear, Robert54. I can only hope to be "jumping" around soon. My youngest son lived in a really nice part of Wiesbaden, Germany for a number of years. We visited a few times and saw really beautiful places. The proximity to southern and western European countries meant they could take about a 5 hour drive to Paris or hop a train for a few hours to London or Belgium . Every other weekend they were traveling someplace different. With no military or mfg. importance that area was left untouched during the war so there is some very old architecture. If you are still motivated and can swing the cost I would sure do it.
