Have never been here and was planning on launching out of Ponderosa. First question is can you run wide open heading West? What is the general width of the Bayou? What is the general depth? I will be Bass fishing so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rarely will there be no boats in the bayou so no you won't be able to run wide open..... what's tha rush anyway? Those feesh don't swim that fast
Some parts are fairly narrow and there are several blind spots in the curves........ just last year there was a boating accident that caused a death due to speed.... that should answer your question but if not ask more.....

Several years ago I was going just fast enough to maintain pad in the bayou North of Ponderosa, hit something and did quite a bit of damage to the skiff! I would say plan to idle, especially North of Ponderosa. If you are going to fish up there it will be slow going, all there is to it. There will be times and stretches that allow u to kick it up a notch, but if you are ever “WIDE” open you and others are in danger!

Spring is just around the corner, just wait a couple weeks and you can save some gas. You will be able to go from main lake as far up the bayou as you want just hopping from boat to boat.

Yeah several blind spots. Every now and then you can open it up but slower is safer.
